Conservation and life in Borneo

Ever get the feeling you’re being watched?

This is Rosa. She was the forewoman/foreape while I was working on the electric fence this morning. I managed to have another “shocking” experience today as I intelligently leant onto the hotwire with both forearms to take a photo of a fairly large monitor lizard which was in the enclosure. The video clip of it below shows some good examples of its behaviour. Watch how it hisses, puffs itself up and lashes towards the percieved threat with it’s tail.

Anyway, the good news is that we located and were able to clear the obstructions which were causing the fence to arc. The voltage is now high enough again, so we can think about giving our mate Linggam the outdoor experience soon.

To think that I just asked you to be careful and not get yourself electrocuted… Paul, paul, paul… *shakes head* 😀
