Conservation and life in Borneo

Sun bears, eh?

We had a visit from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Forestry today. The group were here to study tropical forest conservation for their M.Sc., accompanied by Sean Thomas, Professor of Forest Ecology & Silviculture.

It was a pleasure to meet these young conservationists. Maybe we’ll see some of them again one day?

They were all eager to learn about the realities of running a conservation project out here in Borneo and asked some very good questions after being showed around. They were very thankful to be given the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on here. It was a shame that they were on such a tight schedule as we could have talked all day. Gloria and I were surprised and very appreciative when they gave us a t-shirt each and a cash donation for the BSBCC, before going on to visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre.
